The US women’s gymnastics team took home a silver medal. I repeat, a silver medal. That means they are the second best team in the world on the biggest stage for this sport. That is pretty darn good! Let’s not forget that most, if not all, are teenagers and amateurs!
Shouldn’t we be proud of our […]

Today was one of those special days when the workout felt great throughout and passed by with controlled ease.
The workout was a 4×1 mile at Threshold/Tempo pace. I set the grade to 2%, warmed up for a mile, and then began the Threshold repeats. I focused on relaxed body, breathing, and posture. Each mile just […]

Jack Daniels states that it takes 6 weeks to completely adapt to a training stress. He recommends training under a constant stress for a minimum of 3-4 weeks before adding to this stress with increased distance or intensity.
So…my question is why are most training plans built using a build-build-build-recovery (3 week build / 1 week […]

The to-do list for Saturday went pretty smoothly which we were very grateful due to our rather interesting night.
We were able to get in a few naps during the day which helped everyone. G took a nice two hour nap in the morning which we all took advantage of.
After G’s nap we got ready to […]

Well, we made it to the big city! It hasn’t been without some personal growth moments.
The flight over was fairly smooth except for Griffin (1 yr old son) wanting to explore the entire plane. This tested both Wendy and I since this took place for the entire first two hours of the flight. We received […]

Baby!
Time to go and run that little marathon they have up there.
The race is on Monday, I repeat Monday. Strange day for a race but it is a civic holiday (Partriots’ Day) in the state of Massachusetts.
You can check out the progress of all your running friends on the Boston Marathon website come race day.
I […]

I like to cut back on the food shoved in the mouth during a major taper. No need to put on a couple extra pounds right before the event. Per the rumor, one extra pound of weight is equal to three pounds when running. No thanks!
I am especially trying to cut back on the carbohydrates […]
