This was the basic format of the Gearhead Endurance Challenge which took place on October 5th on the gravel loop at Craighead Forest Park in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The event also raised funds for Out of the Dark, a local community based youth drug prevention and awareness program.

Over 100 runners took on the challenge completing anywhere from 2.5 miles up to the max of 60.

A group of four completed all 60 miles – Jason Barker, Cory McDaniel, Jeffrey Foes, and Ted Herget.

Local runner, Sarah Gamble, completed the most loops for the women with an ultra distance of 42.5 miles.

Ashlyn Kohler, involved with the event, had fond memories of the day.

“It was a very rewarding experience in that this event wasn’t a race to win but a challenge to yourself to find out what you are capable of. We’re already looking forward to next year.”
