Scott Jurek – Eat & Run Book Tour – Austin Monday 6/18

Elite ultra running athlete, Scott Jurek, will be in Austin, Texas on Monday, June 18 for a group fun run (5km-ish) and chat/book-signing for his new book – Eat & Run.

Some of you may recall when Scott and other ultra Goliaths laced them up for a special Rocky Raccoon 100 back in 2011.

If you don’t know about Scott, well, he is one accomplished athlete.

Here are just a few of his higher profile accomplishments in this sport:

  • United States record holder for 24-hour distance on all surfaces – 165.7 miles
  • Won Spartathlon (152 mile race from Athens to Sparta, Greece) three consecutive years
  • Won Hardrock 100
  • Won Western States 100 seven consecutive years
  • Won Badwater twice

Of course, if you have read Born to Run, Scott is weaved within the storyline.

Here is a pretty cool video with Scott.

Although I have yet to read Eat & Run, from looking at some of the descriptions and table of contents, it appears to contain his journey as an elite athlete and his transition to the vegan lifestyle. Looks like a variety of recipes as well inside. Sounds like an interesting read.

I loved the book. Wonderfully written and it talked about all of the things that inspire me and interest me, such as trail running, ultra running and healthy eating. Highly recommend! SOOOO wish he was coming to Oklahoma!

Awesome book! Just got done reading it and I had a hard time putting it down. Definitely worth the drive to meet him. His writing and story have added to my respect for him and his running. Here’s to some great inspiration for Pedernales Falls.

Made the drive to meet Scott and sign my book. It was well worth it. He’s a real down to earth guy who eshews the values of taking care of your body to get the best out of it, even if you are a carnivore. I heard over 600 people showed up for the fun run at Lukes. Only about a 100 came to the book reading/Q&A session/book signing. He even demonstrated his “rebel yell” McDougal wrote about in Born to Run and then had the audience do it in celebration of Micha True and to those who have inspired us to do what we do. His inscription in my book says, “Do thing!” So much meaning in two small words.
