2012 UltraCentric To Provide Largest Prize Purse in the Region

From November 15-18, the UltraCentric Experience will take place along the southern shores of Grapevine Lake within the Dallas / Ft. Worth metroplex of north Texas. This two mile hard-top loop event is once again providing both unique and significant prizes to the fastest male and female tread for the 24/48/72 hour events.

Win here and you could potentially pay for your trip and them some. The UltraCentric may just be one of the biggest ultra running prize purses in the country. One event that I can think of with a bigger purse is UROC at $20,000.

What is being offered at UltraCentric?

Gold and Silver coins!

The top three male/female in each time division will take home some coinage divided in the following manner:

  • 1st – One ounce American Eagle Gold coin
  • 2nd – One p0und American Eagle Silver coins
  • 3rd – 1/2 pound American Eagle Silver coins

Current spot prices for gold and silver as of today, 4/26, is $1659 for an ounce of gold and nearly $500 for a pound of silver. Not a bad payday in this sport. If you live in the region, the value is multiplied.

The event also hosts a 6 and 12 hour event but no coinage for those.

You can check out more details about the event at http://www.ultracentric.com/.

Was it the event that RD didn’t pay up some international dude winner, and when Nikki Kimball and Scott Jurek came for the American Record, they were misguided for the course elevation? Or I could be totally wrong. Or it’s gotten 500 times better:) I know of one person coming over, and who knows, God willing…this is a challenge for sure, a different kind of one.

Olga – Yes, I do believe there were some issues (or confusion) in the past. The Nikki / Scott year was a new venue (Erwin Park) and was not “flat” as advertised.

Similar to last year, this year’s event is back at a proven, established, and “flat” course at Meadowmere Park at Grapevine Lake.

My understanding is all awards were paid out last year which included silver (or the cash equivalent).

Thanks for the info, David. Glad it all worked out. It looks pretty, around the lake and all:) and 2 miles is not that bad. I tried a timed event on a 1M loop, although had to stop for injury 13 hrs in. Surprisingly, I wasn’t bored.
