Got Guts? 5 km – 2011 Results Summary

Jones and Aguilar-Rehm first to enjoy the gluten-free food fair!

On on the morning of September 11, over 100 runners of all ages played on the trails (both dirt/grass and pavement) at Walter E. Long park in Austin, Texas for the 5th Annual Got Guts? 5 km. While promoting celiac awareness, athletes scampered 3.1 miles (or 1km kids run) that included some scenic views of the park lake.

Three sub-20 minute finishes with Todd Jones’ 6:10 pace leading the way. Todd won the male race by 35 seconds in 19:11.

Christian Perez was able to stay a handful of strides in front of Taylor Preece to earn second in 19:46.

Melisa Aguilar-Rehm finished 10th overall and ran alone at the front of the female race. Melisa’s 7:01 pace created a two plus minute gap with a winning time of 21:49.

Jenna Corning and Nicole Lewis inspired each other in the second place dash. Four seconds separated the two at the finish with Jenna earning second in 24:15.
