Jalapeno del Sol Trail Run – 2011 Results

On August 28, over 140 runners scampered along the heavily wooded and rocky trails at McAllister Park in San Antonio, Texas for the Jalapeno del Sol 10 km off-road adventure.

The event also had a 1 km kids run to get everyone involved!

The start.

Justin Smith and Gerardo Gomez dashed off sub seven minute miles as they navigated the low branches and uneven terrain. Justin had the extra acid building kick at the finish to create a 19 second gap (per gun time) and win the male race in 42:36 (gun time).

Gerardo earned second in 42:42 (tag time).

Martina Mauldin was bumpin’ elbows in the overall to win the female race with mid-7 pace and gun time of 47:10. This effort also placed Martina 7th overall!

Jennifer Cook cruised across the finish line 13th overall and second female in a tag time of 48:30.

  • Not a runner above 60 ran in this one but over 20 kids ran in the 1 km scamper!!
