It was a beautiful and exhilarating morning on the trails in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico as runners started their scamper at 9,207 feet and climbed up, up, up 2612 feet in three miles. Then scream it on down to the finish!
Results
The male win was a quad burnin’ dash between experienced trail runner, Mike Rahmer (2011 Jemez 50 km – 6:18), and the youthful Sean Sanchez (age 19). One second separated the two at the finish with experience taking the win…this time.
Had to be fun to watch the descent!

Check out some of the wisest finishers. I hope this stuff fires you up as much as it does me.
- Carol Lindenblatt (age 64), Fred Winter (age 62), and Richard Lopez (age 62) enjoyed playing at 10,000 feet!
Life is play. Play is life.
Race Reports
- “The truth is that these shorter races are actually quite simple: keep the effort as hard as you can without going over the edge, and be prepared to suffer. How’s that for strategy?” by Jacob @ santa fe trail runner

Insane! I learned to ski at Taos. It’s some of the most technical skiing in the country. Can’t image having to run up those black diamond trails and hurl yourself down the backside.
Jonathan – Someday you might have to revisit and provide a…foot report! Would be a fun comparison ski vs tread.
