Spillway Classic Trail Run – 2011 Results

The most dirt-lovin’ fun since 1997 was experienced at the 24th Annual Spillway Classic Trail Run located at the Bonnet Carre Spillway in Norco, Louisiana. Local rains prior to the adventure put the fun-factor on high!  Sections of knee-deep water and some good old slippery mud made this three mile run a memorable one.

This short-course scamper is ran in honor of past New Orleans Track Club president, Rick Lusky, and benefits Operation Homefront Louisiana. This high leg-turnover adventure also claims to be the second largest trail run in the nation. This year had over 1000 registered but less appeared to actually run (based on the results).

Sub 16 minute 5 km runner, Sean Allerton, won the male race by 17 seconds in 17:37. Sean’s finish time provides a glimpse of the extra jalepeno required at this year’s adventure.

Female winner, Emmi Aguillard, appeared to feel at home on the sections of goopy, sticky terrain as she knocked off two minutes from her 2010 time. Emmi crossed the finish first in the female race in 22:27.
