“I saw these on the side of the road, they were these huge manes…these Lions…and their paws were crossed…and they had their heads in between…there was a whole row of them…” – Rochelle talking with crew on the final climb at Badwater
TALON ultra athlete Rochelle Frazeur crossed the finish line at Mount Whitney Portal to complete the 135 mile extreme endurance event that is simply known as Badwater (TALON Results Summary). Rochelle not only finished Badwater but was the first TALON (TX, AR, LA, OK, NM) athlete to run through the white finish banner.
Rochelle was gracious in sitting down with me and my mic (gasp!) to enjoy a little Q&A about her running background, Badwater prep and the race experience, and she also shares an ultra running goal that may require you to put your lower jaw back in its socket. Too cool! It is said very casually so pay attention.

A few things seem apparent when talking with Rochelle:
- She loves to run.
- She takes event preparation very seriously.
- Has a large tool box of ultra knowledge.
- Is able to go ultra, yet keep a life balance. Did you hear her children?
- Sets her goals high and takes incremental steps to go after them.
- Has a competitive fire underneath that smile.
