Trail Running Course

TALON Athletes Playing on the Toughest 100 in the United States

100 miles. Nearly 34,000 feet of gain with an average elevation of 11,000 feet. A big old loop through the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. 48 hours to get it done on one tough and amazingly beautiful course.

This Friday begins the 18th running of the Hardrock 100 with the start/finish in Silverton, Colorado.

From looking at the latest entrants list, there is a good little group of TALON athletes ready for a weekend in the mountains.

TALON Starters

Unfortunately, the entrants list doesn’t mention which state everyone is from, but here is a list of runners I recognized from the region. If you know of others, add it in a comment below. (Those in italic are updates thanks to you!)

Who am I missing?

The Experience

Texas athlete, John Sharp, finished the 100 mile adventure filled butt whoopin’ last year and created this sweet video capturing his journey.

(If you can’t see the video, click here.)

The event appears to have a couple ways to follow race day coverage – online check-point updates and Twitter. Bryon at will have a collection of pre-race interviews and other goodies.

Good luck to all our TALON athletes this weekend!

Was a tough one, David….those mountains seem to always find a way to stop me dead in my tracks. This year it was Vertigo, lightening, hail and soft, collapsing snowfields. Now 2 for 8 at Hardrock!

Hey Steve – I have heard some pretty sketchy conditions. You all are amazing just to start. 42 miles is still an extremely solid day and quite an adventure. Maybe even more than what many asked for. 🙂

8 attempts is all I need to see. Congrats on that!
