Q50 Bogue Chitto Trail Run – 2011 Results

Over 100 runners played on the Bogue Chitto State Park trails in Fanklinton, Louisiana for the Q50 Bogue Chitto Trail Run.

The adventure offered a 10 mile, 5 mile, and 1 mile fun run/walk that benefited STARC, a non-profit providing assistance and services for individuals with disabilities. Good stuff!

The main five mile loop is a scenic, non-technical trail through the park. Expect a few small risers and plenty of opportunities to turn up the speed. A couple race guests are always in attendance in the summer – heat and humidity. Bring it!

10 milers run two loops while the five milers one. Simple enough.

10 mile

David Lamberson apparently didn’t mind the conditions as he cranked off sub 6:30 min/miles to create significant separation at the front and win the male race in 1:04:26.

Second place appeared to be up for grabs as a good group of runners were within a couple minutes of each other. Who could handle the heat as the miles progressed may have told the story. Coming across the line second, Ray Alexis Miranda, lead the chase group with a 1:13:02 finish.

Race Reports

  • “Just over a mile in, we hit the first uphill. I was surprised at how hilly this course would prove to be. Not long after that hill, we came upon a wooden boardwalk. Problem was, it was at the bottom of 70 stairs. I passed several runners going down the stairs two at a time. However, as any trail runner knows, when you go down, you eventually have to go back up.” by Brenton @ Claim You Journey
