Head Hunter 10 km Trail Run – Forge Trail Series #2 – 2011 Results

On March 19th, the second race of the Forge Trail Series took place on the Hooper Road and Comite Park trails in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 70 trail lovin’ runners participated in the Head Hunter 10 km on a beautiful morning for some trail time.

Course

The terrain is quite varied and includes plenty of switchbacks and climbs while dancin’ along some sweet single-track.

Results

Sean Fitzwilliam placed forth in race #1 of the series with a spicy 5:38 min/mile pace. Sean was able to maintain the same pace on this much tougher and longer course (by 1.5 mile-ish) to win the male race with a 34:53 finish time.

Race #1 winner, Matthew Manning ran 22 seconds/mile slower than his winning performance but still finished firmly in second place with an also-spicy 35:15 finish time.

Current series leader is Matthew Manning with Ryan Barrow in second place.

To further emphasize the giddy-up required at this course versus race #1…many of the top females that were back for this adventure ran close to a minute per mile slower. While the male race had a swap-out at the front, Sarah Skotty ran a 6:57 average pace to win the female race in 43:05 and defend her race #1 win.

New participant to this year’s series, Abby Terhaar finished solidly in second with a 43:05 time.

  5. Jacki Devine – 51:57

With a win in both series races so far, Sarah Skotty holds the series point lead with Catherine Clodfelter in second.
