Trail Running Course

TATUR Snake Run – 2011 Results

On Saturday March 19th, a two mile stretch of trail was quite busy in TATUR country. This 3 or 6 hour trail timed event, took place on the popularly peaceful (that makes sense right?) trails of Turkey Mountain in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are talking about the seemingly frightening, yet always fun – TATUR Snake Run.

Nearly 250 trail runners enjoyed the mild conditions and were ready to accumulate as many miles as their feet would carry them…within the time limit.

This event also has pretty sweet awards for running the farthest – the vicious rattler.

Course

Pretty simple. Run 2.1 miles out and turn-around. Repeat, Repeat, Repeat. As much or as little as you want. The trail is the smoothest and flattest on the mountain.

During the final hour, there is a mini-loop for those that don’t think they can run an entire loop within 60 minutes.

Then run and have fun!

Race Reports

  • Race Director Report by Mr. TZ.
  • “Two weeks ago, I ran A-OK 50K.  I had strain my calf muscle pretty bad.  Since then, I didn’t do any running in hopes that my leg would heal up.  By Thursday, I went for short 5 miles at easy pace.  My leg was still feeling the pain.  By saturday, I was still unsure if I should run for 6 hours…much less cover over 30 miles.” by AB @ Keep moving forward
  • “I used Kenisio Tape last night, but as I did it myself, it was not likely done right. I did watch the video though, so we will see. I guess I should have shaved my legs first, eh? Oh well, it will hurt coming off.” by OKUltraRunner @ Know No Boundaries

Great report on this race! My two sons and I ran the 6 hour race, and Cameron and Brandon stayed together and amazingly each covered 30.2 miles, making them ultra-marathoners at ages 9 and 10! 23 miles was plenty far enough to me, as the only time I’ve ever gone further was my lone marathon back in 2006.
