National Trail Running Day – August 21

With help from the trail running gods or maybe just one person’s decision, tomorrow has been designated National Trail Running Day.
The purpose of this little known, rarely talked about day is to promote, celebrate, and experience the sport of Trail Running. For most of us, it will just be another Saturday run on the trails sharing some quality time with self or with fellow dirt loving friends.
I would like to offer this day as an opportunity to reflect and give thanks to all that surrounds your involvement in the sport. A few ideas come to mind:
- your body
- family
- the people in the sport (fellow runners, running clubs, race directors, volunteers)
- the trails
- the amazing planet we all share
Run, Play, Experience, Live.
Any trail running adventures this weekend?
Be active – Feel the buzz!

While out this morning I only encountered one other runner. He didn’t know it was NTRD but decided to run 20 to celebrate!
Thanks for sharing your experience.
