La Luz Trail Run – 2010 Results

On Sunday August 1st, 365 runners finished the intense and exhilarating 45th running of the nine mile mostly-trail run called the La Luz Trail Run in Albuquerque, New Mexico. With rain leading up to the adventure, conditions were wet but the rain remained at bay on the cloudy and foggy race morning.

One-way ticket going…..UP!

The La Luz Trail Run course teases runners with 1.8 miles of paved road before the real journey begins – 7.2 miles of single-track that include some muscle and lung massaging 12% grade. Trail runners will smile and grunt up the 4000 feet of elevation gain and finish at Sandia Crest, nicely positioned at over 10,000 feet.

Tough race. I think the top five guys are all ex-collegiates. Kris is a 2:22 marathon guy. Erica Baron was a Trials qualifier back in the day. This is a tough race and it can bring in a few big guns aiming for the prestige of a win here. Hell of a trail too.
