Last Friday, San Antonio took trail running to the dark-side for the Los Chupacabras de la Noche 10km evening trail fun run through McAllister Park. This adventure started at 9pm so a light source of some kind was required.
This event definitely seems like a confirmation on the growth of running as there was over a 100% increase in participants from last year. There were over 900 runners ready for a run in the woods and the party that followed.
Course
The clockwise looped course is described at rocky, rooty, and heavily wooded…and watch out for low branches. The elevation profile highlights a variety of up/downs but nothing too crazy. Most climbs were in the 5-40 feet range.
Results
912 runners finished this 10km run!
Although this event was tagged a fun run, the front two males where pegging it to the finish with a 6:34 min/mile average pace. One seconds separated Dallas Brown and Joel Stewart.
