Run Like The Wind – 2009 Results

Last weekend the Run Like the Wind 5km and  3/6/12/24 hour events in southwest Austin benefiting the Schrodi Training Fund which helps owners who can’t afford the cost of training to be able to train and keep their dog.

The run route was a 1 km mostly flat trail loop with good footing.

A unique feature of this event is that the 5km events allowed athletes to run with their dog. Also, after the 5 km events were complete, the timed-events had a lunch time start at 11 am.

Results Summary

note: No results posted for the 5 km events.

Nine ultra runners took on the 12 hour quest. Male winner, David Doran,  trotted off 118 laps for 73.16 miles. Female winner, Marcy Beard, wasn’t all that far behind and finished with a strong 114 laps and 70.68 miles.

OK, I just had a realization. You know you are an ultra geek when you write/read 167 and 187 laps and don’t even flinch by the numbers. Ha!
