Four Key Elements To Trail Running Excellence

No Easy Way!
Dang, she/he is fast! Hmm, look at those shoes. Could it be?
Well, not likely.
Before you get all caught up into the minimalist, lightweight trail running shoe vortex and spend all your time and energy chasing the ounces, let’s remind ourselves of four foundational elements of trail running excellence.
These four foundational elements offer the core support towards achieving your trail running goals.
- Training - Run, run, run. For some, this could also include cross training and/or strength training.
- Recovery - This includes the ever popular foam roller, sleep, and other beneficial run recovery tools.
- Lifestyle - Nutritional choices and stress management.
- Having fun – Having fun on the trails often leads to more of number 1, 2, and 3.
The search for the best lightweight shoe (for you) can be an exciting hunt and I will admit to spending a bit of time (probably too much) looking for the golden egg myself. But more importantly, it pays to remind ourself of the basic elements that will take us farther in our trail running or ultramarathon journey than any pair of shoes ever will.
Be active – Feel the buzz!
