It has already been three weeks since the Boston marathon! Wow, the time is flying.
Last week consisted of another very basic week of low mileage/intensity movement. I don’t think I have ever forced myself to go this easy after completing a training cycle. The body tweaks have probably helped with this process but I am [...]

For some reason this just made me laugh.
The triathlon companies are always innovating and this is no exception. I was deeply active in triathlon for five years so I understand the passion…but this may be reaching just a bit.
Xtri.com posted a gear review article on a new fitness jacket by True Motion called the T-Zero [...]

A few lessons hopefully learned from my Boston build-up and race:
3 high intensity sessions in one week (4 weeks from race) was not a wise idea. The full impact of that week didn’t fully manifest until two weeks later and then I was cooked with two weeks from race day. Not where you really want [...]

Dang, I would swear that I hadn’t exercised for a year. My butt and upper hamstrings are tender!
I performed a simple 2×15 set of lunges for each leg with no weights.
That was a big old piece of humble pie!

Over the weekend Ironman Triathlon World Champion Chris Mccormack won the Wildflower Half Ironman event (1.2 mile swim - 56 mile bike - 13.1 mile run) and in this video he describes his run strategy within the last couple miles of the race as he was running side-by-side with another athlete, Eneko LLanos.

I talked to a buddy of mine yesterday about my tweaked knee and tight hip. He is an ultra running veteran that has had to deal with all kinds of running injuries so he provided a bit of wisdom.
He mentioned how beneficial foam rollers (Perform Better - top site I found after a quick search) [...]

After completing a couple test drives with my new Garmin Forerunner 305, I wanted to customize it a bit. Instead of winging it, I actually opened up the manual and followed along. Fortunately (which is not always the case), the manual was very easy to read and implement.
This unit has so many features that [...]

Do you have running shoes that you don’t use anymore? Would you like to help people of all ages around the world?
I found this neat organization a couple days ago.
Soles4Souls is a charitable organization delivering new and gently used shoes of all types to those in need around the world. Their slogan is “Changing the [...]

Last week consisted of getting a bit more consistency in the exercise routine. I was able to get in five workouts (3 run / 1 bike / 1 room painted). Each workout was low volume and easy pace as I want to make sure I am completely recovered from the last four months. I have [...]

Yesterday I picked up a new running toy, the Garmin Forerunner 305. In case my wife reads this, I meant to say running “tool” not “toy”.
REI has this bad boy sale priced at $164.99 which is a great price and $35 cheaper than I could find anywhere else. The 205 is also on sale and [...]
