The Slow Build

It has already been three weeks since the Boston marathon! Wow, the time is flying.
Last week consisted of another very basic week of low mileage/intensity movement. I don’t think I have ever forced myself to go this easy after completing a training cycle. The body tweaks have probably helped with this process but I am a pretty focused individual when I set my mind to something three weeks of laying low is like an eternity. I might finally be learning! Might!
I also found a new trail nearby that contains at least nine miles (one-way) of great running surface. It is a nice Equestrian and hiking trail. I have been looking for a gentler running surface close to home and this is going to be perfect. I ran 3 miles out and back over the weekend and really enjoyed it! I look forward to getting to know it over the coming months.
My plans for the upcoming week is to continue to gradually build the running volume with an emphasis to get in three sessions of weights/core work. I think the strength sessions along with the foam roller will hopefully help take care of any imbalances I currently have.
The Weekly Low-Down:
run: 20.50 miles (5 sessions: 3, 3, 3, 6, 5.50)
bike:45 mins
weights/core: 1
Happy Training!
