Soles4Souls – Donate Your Running Shoes

Do you have running shoes that you don’t use anymore? Would you like to help people of all ages around the world?
I found this neat organization a couple days ago.
Soles4Souls is a charitable organization delivering new and gently used shoes of all types to those in need around the world. Their slogan is “Changing the world, one pair at a time.”
Being a runner, I can go through as many as four pairs of training shoes and a pair of race shoes in a year. Now multiply that by the millions of runners in the world and we are talking a lot of shoes for people that could put them to great use. I know I have probably two pairs ready to go and Wendy has a bag full of shoes that she no longer wears.
This is one small way we as runners/athletes can help in the accumulation of positive change that is greatly needed around the world. Plus why put shoes in the landfill when they can still be put to good use. An eco-friendly action.
As one person we can make a difference in the world, as millions of people we can change it!
You can check out the website for various methods to get the shoes to Soles4Souls but the easiest method is probably to find their nearest drop box in your area based on your zip code.
If you live in the state of Texas, 24 Hour Fitness has partnered up with Soles4Souls and will be collecting shoes until June 7, 2008. Checkout out their site for a location nearest you.
