Legs Ever So Slowly Coming Back

After the legs died last weekend during my long run, I wanted to take this week pretty easy and actually took it even easier than I would have liked. My body still feels a bit out of sorts and then the whole family caught a cold starting on Friday. This is not even remotely ideal but I will have to work with it. At least we are still a week out before the race so I have time to get the body where it needs to be.
They two key workouts of the week included a five mile run with 4 miles at tempo pace. This actually felt pretty good. The second key workout was a 12 mile run on Saturday and it was just OK. No hop in my legs for this run. This was a bit disappointing to still feel so flat. The cold probably didn’t help the situation so I never tried to push it too much.
I also took two extra days off of running due to the funk. Today (Sunday) turned into a bit of a cross training day as I had to stain my fence to keep the homeowners association happy. Good times.
All I can say is this is one odd taper and fortunately there is only one more week before it is time to get on with it.
Enough of this goofy taper stuff, bring on the race!
The Weekly Low-Down:
run: 22 miles (3 sessions: 5, 5, 12)
