I found this cool video that was taken while driving the entire Boston marathon route. If you are new to the course this is definitely worth checking out. It definitely provides a level of familiarity that will be nice on race day.
A commenter also included a video time reference with respect to location on the [...]

Since this week was a pretty serious recovery week, the training was rather “vanilla”. After three solid weeks of training and racing that is exactly what I needed.
Mentally - I am feeling pretty fresh and ready to start gradually turning the screws a bit.
Physically - The body feels mostly recovered from the previous races but [...]

With the Boston Marathon only a little over a month away, I thought I would dig around and see what interesting stuff I can find on the event.
MAP
Let’s start off with the course map of Boston Marathon.
Some things that caught my attention while looking at the map:
It is a point-to-point event. I would assume [...]

Here is a fairly simple, nutritious, and tasty recovery drink that I really enjoy. The mixed berries really provide a nice POW for the taste buds after a solid workout.
Ingredients:
10-20 gm. of protein
1 cup rice milk (organic if possible)
~ 3/4-1 cup organic mixed berries (frozen or fresh - I have typically bought frozen)
optional: [...]

After contacting the race director, I finally found out where the results for the Waco trail run were hidden.
My official finishing time was 5:07:41 (9:54 min/mile). A good enough time for 6th place overall.
First place was won by Pompilio Romero with a speedy time of 4:30:08 (8:42 min/mile).
You can see the complete results for [...]

Saturday morning completed my three week block of racing. This little beauty is called the Waco Trail 5-0. 5-0 meaning 50k. This trail event is put on by Tim Neckar who is an accomplished endurance athlete so I was expecting it to be a well ran race.
I was able to car pool with Matt and [...]

This weekend I had just completed my third race in three weeks and it put a nice exclamation point to the end of this little training block. The race was a great 50k trail run down in Waco Texas. I will provide a full race report tomorrow evening but I will say it was a [...]

Please replace your running shoes before they look like this!
The above is a picture of my wife’s running shoe. Wendy runs periodically so we don’t log the miles for her shoes; maybe we should have.
Wendy had mentioned to me that she felt a few tweaks here and there and thought she may need some new [...]

There is a good little interview of U.S. marathoner Ryan Hall on Competitor Radio. This 25 year old runner is extremely impressive to watch. After going sub 1 hr (59:43) at the Houston half marathon and winning the Olympic trials (2:09:02) recently in New York City , this guy has definitely shown us he has [...]

Here is the 5 mile treadmill workout from today. This session contains mostly interval hill work. I did include a bit of hiking as well which I am using to assist with some of my trail running events.
I have used generic labels so you can define the pace that works for you.
Effort Levels:
Easy - able [...]
