Somewhat of a Recovery Week Plus Another and Another Race

After the Cross Timbers trail marathon last weekend, the quads and calves were fairly sore from all of the going up, down, and around. I did no speed or hill work during the weekday and kept the training very simple. No weights either.
I kept Monday as an “off” day and moved my stationary bike day from Friday to Tuesday. The legs were still pretty fatigued but I felt that some easy spinning would help with the recovery by getting some of that blood flowing.
I started running on Wednesday with a 5 mile easy treadmill run. The major soreness was gone but I still felt some minor fatigue.
I did toss in a 15km fun run with the family on Saturday which added some flat-land tempo work.
The Weekly Low-Down:
run: 49 miles (5 sessions: 5, 9, 5, 9, 21)
bike: 45 mins
weights/core: zilch!
The week ahead includes my last race before a true recovery week and then a focused five week Boston marathon training block begins. A training buddy (Tim) and I both qualified for the first time so we are pretty excited to participate in the big event.
The season has quickly started kicking into gear. I am very grateful to have an injury-free body once again.
I hope everyone has a great week of training and racing.
Feel the BuzZ!
