Cross Timbers Trail Run Prep

I am starting to get a bit excited for the first race start of the season for me. I will be running in the CrossTimbers 26 mile trail run.
Conditions look to be pretty good for this time of year which basically means NO RAIN. Yippee! It looks like temps will start in the mid 30s and then gradually climb throughout the morning. Partly sunny skies. Nice.
My plan for the race is to hold my heart rate below 150 bpm (aerobic) for most of the first 20 miles and then see what I got left for the final six miles. If the race course hasn’t changed, I have read that the final six miles are the toughest so that may create a bit of carnage and plenty of motivation to get to that darn finish line.
Another goal is to stay away from the root monsters so that I don’t end up playing in the dirt, as fun as that sounds.
I will miss not having my number one support team, Wendy and Griffin at the event, but they will be in my heart along every mile.
Ready to Roll!

Good luck to all those racing this weekend.
Feel the BuzZ!
