In case you missed it the first time (me), all you runners (5k, marathon, ultra, and beyond) may want to check out the encore screening of Spirit of the Marathon, this Thursday February 21st at 7:30pm. (select theaters) I would imagine almost any endurance athlete would probably enjoy this flick.
This movie follows six athletes (first time marathoner up to Olympic medalist) as they prepare for the Chicago marathon. I am sure there will be plenty of emotions and challenges along the way.
To get a better feel for the movie, take a peek at the trailer. It seems like pretty high quality work plus who can complain about having endurance sports like the marathon on the big screen. Now that is pretty cool!
This movie also won Best Picture Award (2007) at Mammoth Film Festival and Audience Choice Award (2007) at Chicago International Film Festival. These are not the Academy Awards but hopefully they do provide some reassurance as to the quality.
Take a look at the screenings page to hopefully find locations in your area and to purchase tickets.
I would like to watch the movie but will have to see how life progresses throughout the week. An 11 month old son always makes life interesting.
