Increasing the Mileage

Last week was a solid week of training as I ramped up the mileage. I increased two of my weekday runs as well as both days on the weekend. I tried to keep intensity down as I was mainly trying to get the body used to a fair amount of weekly miles. Today, my quads and calf muscles are a bit tender from the trail run but hopefully within another day or so, the legs should be back to normal.

This week I plan to incorporate a bit of speed work into most of the runs with only a slight increase in overall mileage. Within the next four weeks I have two fairly challenging trail races so it’s time to get the body ready to roll.

Last week’s Low-Down:

run: 49 miles (5 sessions: 5, 9, 9, 16, 10)

bike: 45 mins

weights/core: 1 session
